Firmware embedded for mass-produced products shall require enormous cost burdens for updates after the shipments. Therefore, firmware inevitably requires higher level of integrity than other software development. By utilizing the abundant experience and leading technologies of the Alps group companies on development of car electric components and devices, and embedded control programming technologies, ALSI seeks to develop in close contact with the points of production.
In order to address problems and difficulties in engineer education, we introduced a program to promptly and systematically nurture and develop firmware engineers. High quality and technical well-balanced engineers can be able to provide excellent technical solutions.
In order to meet global standards on a management level of software development process such as CMMI (*1) and SPICE (*2), ALSI promotes to standardize the development processes, and introduce development tools. We leverage the past valuable experiences on success and failure accumulated over a long period of time, for our ongoing technological innovation.
*1 Capability Maturity Model Integration
*2 Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination
With an initiative to facilitate visualization of the entire development process from the upstream of design to the downstream, we have achieved to detect defects at an earlier stage. Furthermore, human errors can now be minimized with an introduction of process automation by development tools. In order to aim at even higher quality products, we strenuously strive for improving the development environment with maximum use of IT technologies.
